Firstly, I would like to start by wishing you all a happy new year! I look forward to enjoying a successful, productive, and positive 2021 with our K3 class, and this month has been a great start toward achieving that. The first week of the year was dedicated to our Care for All Things topic, in-which we learnt about the importance of caring for the environment, animals, our school, the elderly and beyond. It was great to see the students so engaged and full of passion about caring for a variety of causes.
首先,我預祝大家新年快樂!我期待我們的K3班級能在2021年取得成功,富有成效並得到積極的發展,本月是實現這一目標的一個良好的開端。新年的的第一周我們學習了「關愛週」這個主題,在該主題中,我們了解了關愛環境,動物,學校,老人和其他人的重要性。很高興看到學生如此投入並充滿熱情地關心身邊的各種事物。
We have since moved on to our new topic, My Material World. We have examined a wide range of different materials and learnt the difference between materials that are manmade and those that are natural. The students have had great fun participating in games over zoom where they find items within their homes that are made from a particular material. We have also been observing textures and learning why certain materials are used for different tasks.
此後,我們進入了新主題「我的物質世界」。我們研究了各種不同的材料,並了解了人造材料與天然材料之間的區別。學生們在參加縮放遊戲時玩得很開心,在遊戲中他們找到了由特殊材料製成的家中物品。我們還一直在觀察紋理並了解為什麼某些材料用於不同的地方。
I have seen significant progress from the K3 class in their confidence in calculating addition and subtraction sums. Whilst we continue to practice more complex addition and subtraction, we have also started to explore calculating money. The students have really enjoyed the practical application of the maths they have been learning.
我看到K3的孩子在計算加法和減法和的信心方面取得了顯著進步。在我們繼續練習更複雜的加法和減法的同時,也開始探索計算貨幣的方法。學生們真的很喜歡他們所學的數學在實際生活中加以應用。
In phonics and literacy, we have been continuing to practice our spelling and reading and there has been a noticeable improvement in the accuracy of both. This month, we reviewed words that end with double letters and also practiced spelling each of the days of the week. I am very happy with the progression in our phonics lessons this month.
在語音和識字方面,我們一直在練習拼寫和閱讀,而且兩者的準確性都有了明顯的提高。這個月,我們評估了以雙字母結尾的單詞,並且在一周的每一天都練習拼寫。我對本月的語音課的進展感到非常滿意。
It is great to see the students continue to thrive through the online learning platforms. We love to see each of them engaging with the classes and portal videos and participating in the crafts and various activities from home. Please continue to send in photographs and videos as much as possible.

2020 has been a testing time for our K3 students but they have adapted so well to accommodate online learning activities. It was great to see them engaging and sharing their daily lives with peers during online sessions.
對高班的孩子們而言,剛剛過去的2020年是極具挑戰的一年。2020年初他們還是活蹦亂跳的低班弟弟妹妹,一眨眼就成了半隻腳邁入小學校門的高班哥哥姊姊;他們也由對網絡課堂的零認知進步到今天對網絡課堂的嫻熟操作。在網絡課堂上,高班的孩子們既能認真聆聽同伴的發言又能落落大方地分享自己的經驗,看著孩子們每天一個小進步,老師們深感欣慰。高班孩子們進步的背後有賴於家長們的耐心陪伴和用心引導,我們萬分感激家長們對老師們和學校的支持!
During Care for All Things week, students investigated ways to care for different aspects of the world. They particularly loved discussing how to take care of a cat. They understood that caring is not only a verbal expression but also with actions.
在學習全校性主題「關愛身邊的一切」過程中,高班孩子們最感興趣的話題是「關愛動物」,個別孩子家中有養育小貓,於是在課堂上他主動和大家分享「如何照顧小貓」。透過這個主題的學習,孩子們知道了「關愛」不僅僅是言語上的表達,更是實際行動上的關心和照顧。
More recently, we have been exploring the theme Our Material World. They had fun investigating natural objects seen in the park and the beach and figuring out which material different everyday objects was made from. They identified a wide range of common materials and learnt to recycle.
在全校性主題結束之後,高班的孩子們開始了探索「材料世界」的旅程,大家首先跟著老師的鏡頭一起去到公園、海邊尋找「自然材料」,接著大家又跟著老師的鏡頭回到校園中去觀察「我們日常使用的物品是用哪些材料製成的」。透過這一主題的學習,孩子們認識了生活中常見材料的名稱以及如何將金屬、塑料、玻璃和紙張的製成品進行分類回收。
